Like rain it sounded till it curved
The imagery is filling, the lines sketching deep and different levels of meaning, spiritual, inspirational even. Each time I read- I like to read it aloud- I can hear the wind curve, the rain and the wind filling the wells with a warbling note...a poem is not just its creators world, it pulls out the readers world too, different ones...
Reading loud the lines, just for the superficial bliss of a rain and wind!
Like rain it sounded till it curved
and then I knew 'twas the wind
It walked as wet as any wave
but swept as dry as sand..
when it had pushed itself away
To some remotest plain
A coming as of hosts was heard
It filled the wells, it pleased the pools
it warbled in the road
it pulled the spigot from the hills
and let the floods abroad
it loosened acres lifted seas
the sites of centres stirred
then like Elijah rode away
Upon a wheel of cloud.
